Building a Better Community, One Donation at a Time
Residents are excited that our community is proposing to build a brand new pool for everyone to enjoy. It will also enhance the quality of life in our community, making it a more attractive place to live and visit. However, we need your help to make this happen!
As you know, building a pool requires a significant amount of resources, including funding. While the goal of $1,000,000 won't pay for a new pool, it is a milestone to reach in order to start qualifying for grants. We are asking for donations from our community members to help us raise the necessary funds to build a new pool. As of June 30, 2025, the Gregory Pool Fund has $444,739.22 available in funds, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal.
At the July 7, 2025 Gregory City Council meeting, residents discussed the future of the city's swimming pool. The public works department plans to seal cracks in the current pool to hopefully reopen it next summer. Exploring options for a new pool, at the donated site from Avera is also in the works. Opinons are varied, with some favoring renovation of the current facility and others supporting a new indoor or outdoor pool. Staffing, funding, and design concerns were raised. Council members emphasized the need for public input before making any decisions. A committee will be formed to explore options and gather more information.
