🔥🏃♂️🏃♀️Law Enforcement Torch Run
When:Gregory, South Dakota will host the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, as the run passes through southern South Dakota.
Law enforcement officers serve as the “Guardians of the Flame,” carrying the “Flame of Hope” to opening ceremonies for Special Olympics competitions at the local, state, national, and world levels.
The Gregory LETR event will feature a Torch Run beginning at 10:00 a.m., starting at the Gregory School parking lot and ending at Avera Gregory Hospital and nursing home parking lot.
Participants will include members of the Gregory Police Department serving as “Guardians of the Flame,” along with the fire department, EMS, and school staff and students. Community members are also encouraged to join the run.
T-shirts will be available for purchase prior to the event, along with additional donation opportunities. Police Chief Ryan Cook noted that individuals and businesses may also sponsor T-shirts for participants. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics.
